In Memory of JJ

We got JJ in Kansas City from a rescue in February 2000.
He was a great dog to us and the boys.

When Brendan was 3 he tried to cut JJ's hair and nipped his ear. Boy, can a dogs ear bleed or what. Then one day I noticed that he had all these little wet spots over his back. Could figure it out from what. Come to find out Brendan was bitting the dogs back. He never whinned , whimped, yelped or leash back at him. Brendan even accidently hit him with a golf club. JJ went through a bout of illness around the same time they told us he wouldn't live but a year. Well that was 7 years ago. Along came Carter. Carter loved all over him too. Carter tried to ride him like a horse, he was big enough and Carter was little enough but JJ would just sit down. They would use him as a pillow some times. Brendan would even talk him for a walk on his roller skates cause that was really the only way Brendan could keep up with him. JJ loved walkes but always pulled. He could never get the walk with us thing down. When we mocved to Texas we was told he may only live a year once again but this time cause he had high liver numbers. "Laughing" well little did the vet know we are all too familiar with the liver and who would have ever guessed we would have a child and dog with liver problems. Well that was in 2006. Now in 2010, JJ got sick he ate some grass as most dogs do and we didn't give it a whole lot of thought he did this occaionally anyways and we was on the last few days of school. But by the weekend we wasn't eating all of his food and still gettig sick. We waited took to see if it was nothing. On Tuesday, June 9 2010, we went to the vet. He stayed for some test. They called and we went back to talk. JJ had a mass on his liver and high white blood cell count and anemic. He had an infection, was very jaundise and had a bleed somewhere. Vet guess was the mass. We could do surgery and find out what was going on but really in the end, we was looking at bad news. In the mean time the mass could rupture and he could bleed out and he would be in pain. So we did the only thing we could. We let him go, after he came home for one last night. He had a steak dinner and slept really well. On Wednesday June 10th, 2010 at 5:36, JJ went on to a better place, pain free, feeling much better and watching over us now.
